Philippine Traditional Music is usually a confluence of Western styles and our own ethnic music. In modern times, however, Filipino music is similar to modern music that is heard everywhere in the world.

The original musical works of Filipino artists is usually known as "Music the Philippines "or the OPM. Many songs and music artists from the Philippines usually use Tagalog and English for the lyrics of their songs. Therefore, if you hear to any local radio station FM, would not be surprised to hear songs with English lyrics and titles OPM.

If more rocker type of musician or listener, all you have to do is tune into the "alternative music" FM stations. The most popular of these stations Rock FM is the Manila-based FM station NU 107.1.

In the Philippines, the world of "alternative music" refers to heavy metal or rock music made by Filipino artists. This type of wave of music Filipino began during the early 90's.

Some of the most popular alternative bands are "Eraserheads", "Parokya ni Edgar "and" Wolfgang ". Another popular alternative bands are" MYMP "," Hale "and" Orange and Lemon.

Women artists are popular alternative song Kitchie Nadal and Barbie Almadi. These two ladies have very good voices that sound like Alanis Morissette (if you still remember this artist from mid 90's).
