What is the history of Barbie vs. Bratz lawsuit?

Can you give me some information about what it is and what has been happening

The short version is that the designer of Bratz, Carter Bryant, was hired by Mattel, he developed the idea for Bratz. Computers were used Mattel, Mattel design programs and Mattel Doll Parts to make the prototype. Instead of offering the concept of Mattel, he took Isaac Larian, the chief of the AMS. Unfortunately, Bryant had signed a non-exclusive competition contract with Mattel. The forged document, apparently with the knowledge of AMS and stated that he understood that AMS was a toy company and a rival of Mattel. Mr. Bryant may be a good designer, but not very bright if they do not realize that any toy company is considered competition. Mattel sued and earlier this spring, the court ruled that Bryant conceived the Bratz while working at Mattel and Mattel has the rights to them. This week, the jury awarded damages to Mattel, but it will be a long time before they collect. MGA likely appeal and you can drag the trial for years. The moral of the story, understand your contract before signing it and does not work for a company when another is paying his salary.
